Ok Jung returns to the palace and meets with Sukjong. Sukjong is happy to see her after thinking that she was dead or had disappeared and asks why she hadn’t contacted him earlier if she had been alive. Oooh, happy scenes galore.
Min Yoo Joong (Inhyeon’s father) is very upset that Jang Ok Jung has returned to the palace alive.
Political battles stirring. Jang Ok Jung & the King’s step grandmother (Queen Jang Ryeol) vs. the King’s mother (Queen Myeongseong) and Queen Inhyeon. The King’s grandmother says that if Jang Ok Jung gets pregnant first, then the grandchild will be from the Southern faction side. Queen Myeongseong seems upset, and also very ill. Queen Inhyeon looks greatly alarmed.
The King’s mother demands “what were you thinking to bring her back to the palace?” but Inhyeon says that she will handle it. (Also, we see a scene of Ok Jung being dragged away in her bed clothes…)
Ok Jung receives the position of special Sang-Goong (특별상궁, a position given to women who have slept with the King) and she tells the ladies of the court that she will do her best and asks the best from them.
